(1) What is the issue you have learned the most about by talking directly to voters as part of the campaigning process?

I became more aware of how concerned people are about the rising cost of living down here. The most prevalent concern people have at the door is how high their property taxes are. A lot of it has to do with the fact that people retire to Cape Cod and the cost of living continues to increase each year. These people are living on fixed incomes and tax increases at the municipal level every year hit these people hard, in a place where they had intended to spend the rest of their lives.

(2) What gets you excited to wake up in the morning and spend the day campaigning?

I genuinely like talking to people. That’s been the most encouraging thing about this campaign – to get to listen to folks, and hear their stories. You’ll find that in a very, very partisan, toxic time, people’s concerns are more shared than we think.

(3) As you get to know your district better by campaigning in it, what do you love about your district that you want the rest of Massachusetts to know about?

Cape Cod is a very special place. When you look at it, there’s a lot of natural beauty and a lot of wonderful people who are very passionate about the community they live in. It’s a place we all care a lot about and excited to share it with people from different parts of the state and different parts of the country.
