LYNN, Massachusetts — July 29, 2016 — The Young Democrats of Massachusetts celebrated a historic Democratic National Convention that saw the first time a major political party nominated a woman for President of the United States.

Young Democrats and the Young-at-Heart gathered at Trio’s in Lynn on July 28th for the official YDMA convention watch party hosted by the North Shore Young Democrats. Among those assembled were candidates for Essex County Sheriff and Governor’s Council.

Young Democrats Drew Russo of Lynn, a Clinton delegate, and Tristan Whitehouse of Manchester-by-the-Sea, a Sanders delegate, joined the party via Facebook live from the convention floor. They were joined by Senator Ed Markey, who was with the Massachusetts delegation at the convention and addressed the attendees of the party. Drew and Tristan spoke about their experience at the convention and how important it is to be united going forward.

A packed house watched the spirited and inspiring speeches by Khizr Khan, Chelsea Clinton, and 2016 Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.
