Across the country, Republican-controlled state legislatures have ramped up their attacks on reproductive rights. In Alabama, Georgia, Ohio, and countless other states, anti-choice legislators have pushed forward draconian, medically inaccurate legislation to deny women’s bodily autonomy and restrict basic access to health care. Anti-choice advocates have a singular goal: to use the courts to overturn Roe v. Wade. The Young Democrats of Massachusetts stands in opposition to any efforts to limit access to medical care, and support a woman’s ability to make the choices that are best for her.
Moreover, in such a climate, it is imperative for Massachusetts to strengthen its commitment to reproductive rights by passing the ROE Act, which would ensure that anyone, regardless of age, income, or insurance, can access safe, legal abortion. It’s simple: abortion is health care, and health care is a human right.
