YDMA Statement in Response to the Attack on the Poway Chabad in San Diego

The Young Democrats of Massachusetts were heartbroken to learn of the horrific attack at the Poway Chabad in San Diego this weekend, which tragically killed one person, Lori Gilbert Kaye, and injured three others, including the Rabbi. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the San Diego community, but thoughts and prayers are no longer enough. We have seen an increasing number of hate crimes, and gun violence across our country lately; just six months ago, the attack in Pittsburgh happened, and before that Charlottesville. We continue to once again stand with our friends in the Jewish community, in a time of sorrow and grief. We, especially as young Democrats, must continue to advocate for sensible gun laws in our country, and we must keep standing strong against these hate crimes, educating others in the communities around us, to know that enough is enough.
