Welcome Democrats to the Redesigned YDMA.ORG!

Welcome to the Young Democrats of Massachusetts redesigned web-site! We’re very excited to share with you a project we’ve been working on for more than a month.  It’s our hope that you’ll find everything you need to be an active and engaged young Democrat in Massachusetts.

Before you explore our new site, allow me to highlight some of the key features. In the top right hand corner, you’ll see a brief sign-up form titled “Stay connected with YDM.” Signing up right now will help us know how many young Democrats are engaged in Massachusetts and allow us to communicate with you about upcoming events and important issues and candidates we support.

Just below our logo, you’ll see a dark gray navigation bar. “News” will take you to our full blog feed and any press releases we send out from YDM. “About YDM” will give direct you to information about the Young Democrats of Massachusetts board of directors, charter, by-laws, our history and much more. “Chapters” will provide you with information about each of our local chapters. The “Events” tab will take you to a calendar with information about all the latest state-wide and local chapter events. The “Resources” tab is your Young Democrat toolbox, helping you to register to vote, find your polling location, find a job in politics, contact your elected officials, and much more. Finally you’ll see a red “Contribute” tab. Though the Young Democrats of Massachusetts is an all volunteer organization, to be effective in 2012, we need your continued financial support.

Below the navigation bar, you’ll see a set of scrolling images, this is our featured section highlighting recent important blog posts. And just below the featured section, you’ll find our blog, our twitter and facebook feeds, and a list of upcoming events.

In the coming weeks this web-site will continue to evolve as we add more features and content. We’ve invited a number of wonderful young Democrats to help share their perspectives on Massachusetts politics and we look forward to sharing those with you. If you’d like to join our team of writers send us an e-mail.

Finally, this project would not have been possible with out a number of dedicated members. I’d like to thank Todd Plants, Michael Bakshi, Tina Stanton, Elaine Almquist, and Kevin Gilnack for helping to conceptualize, build, and maintain the new site. And a special thanks to Josh Gee for providing his thoughtful review to early iterations of the site. Now go explore! And let us know what you think of the new site.
